Why join the MarketingKind community of change-makers?

When we think of the word ‘community’ we often imagine a place, but community can also be about coming together around a shared passion.

Today marketers are expected to be experts on almost everything, from our core job competencies to social and environmental issues (particularly those related to our brand and its values), new legislation (we don’t want to get caught out by the Green Claims Code) and the rapidly changing geo-policatical landscape (and how our company is reacting to changes in our customers’ and clients’ needs as a result).

The power of finding a tribe of people who are passionate about using marketing for good and who can help you to navigate these hurdles is more valuable than ever.

When speaking to our members about why they have joined the community it is often one or a combination of these three reasons:

  1. They have been volunteering for many years and want to use their expertise to support good causes collectively.

  2. They are passionate about sustainability and are looking to learn from others and find new inspiration to be more effective in creating sustainable change in their organisations and beyond.

  3. And they believe that marketing has an important role to play in tackling society’s biggest challenges.

Marc Convey, entrepreneur, speaker and MarketingKind member, said it well, "We are much greater than the sum of our parts. And together we can create a ripple effect across society."

Questions you may want to ask yourself when considering joining a community could include:

  • What am I looking to gain from membership? And is that a good fit with what is on offer?

  • How can I contribute to the community? And how will I grow both professionally and personally as a result?

  • How can I learn more about the community to see if it is a good fit for me? Do I know existing members who I can ask about their experiences?

The MarketingKind community is not right for everyone.

We offer opportunities to foster purposeful leadership and connections through informal learning and networking in our Digital Fireside and You’re MarketingKind gatherings. And through working alongside each other in support of charities in our Coffee with a Cause sessions.

But we are not a traditional professional membership community where you come to trade business cards and sell yourself and your business.

We are a great place to build your portfolio of social and environmental accomplishments through supporting a variety of good causes through our Coffee with a Cause sessions and through exploring some of the biggest narratives that guide how we live and work through our xChange discussions.

But we don’t offer traditional training courses.

We provide opportunities to meet and work with your heroes in our xChanges and Digital Firesides and develop your leadership capabilities by speaking at events, hosting interviews with world-leading experts and leading members in addressing the marketing and business challenges of pioneering causes.

But we’re not a traditional leadership development programme.

Finding a community that is a good fit for you can help you to meet new allies, to participate in continuous collaborative learning and grow in unexpected ways. And if you have any questions about the MarketingKind community we would love to hear from you.
