In our April Coffee with a Cause we will be supporting the Community Interest Company SuperLooper, which provides a pre-loved baby clothes rental service for UK parents.
Jenny Barrett founded SuperLooper in 2020 because she loves clothes and loved dressing her kids in cute baby stuff, but she also hates clothing waste and feeding the landfills and incinerators just to satisfy her shopping habit.
After running a baby and children’s clothing company for several years she realised that, organic clothing or not, she was just adding to the problem of over-consumption. So inspired by the circular economy she wanted to create a social enterprise that helps keep good things in circulation for as long as possible.
Like many mums she had a hoard of baby clothes in her attic and realised that this was the same for countless families. (Hubbub’s research found that there are 183 million items of redundant outgrown baby clothes stored away in UK cupboards.)
With the help of generous mums, dads, grandparents and sustainable brands doing a conscious clear-out of their cupboards SuperLooper was able to start their library of over 2500 beautiful baby clothing. They have now beta tested their lending system and will be relaunching their website in April 2023.
Simon Garnett, Founder and Director of The Forge, will host this Coffee with a Cause session and together MarketingKind members will help Jenny to refine their communications to make becoming a SuperLooper member a ‘no-brainer’ for parents.
