Give a little, gain a lot with Ed Mayo

In our February You’re MarketingKind gathering we invited guest speaker Ed Mayo to share why we should all ‘Give a little to gain a lot’ by donating our skills to good causes through pro bono initiatives like MarketingKind and Pilotlight.

Ed is CEO of Pilotlight, former Secretary General of Co-operatives UK and former director of the New Economics Foundation.

During his time at the New Economics Foundation Ed was the strategist for the Jubilee 2000 campaign, which gained 24 million signatures worldwide and ultimately led to the cancellation of more than $100 billion of debt owed by 35 of the poorest countries.

In this session Ed talked about the increased need from the charity sector for pro bono support and the benefits of participating for both the individuals and the businesses involved.

We also discussed Ed’s aim of raising the profile of skills-based volunteering to try to make it an integral part of a greater number of sectors.

You can watch a short clip from Ed’s opening remarks below and members can watch his full comments in The Library (available in the Members’ space).
