A powerful new Christmas tradition

Tell Green Santa your Christmas wishes for the planet

At our launch gathering John Grant, Founding Member of MarketingKind and author of Greener Marketing, curated a lively discussion around the question 'What if marketing wasn't selfish?’.

In keeping with the theme we also invited our members to participate in an exercise in unselfish marketing by using their skills and expertise to help the Dear Green Santa campaign to make Christmas a time of sharing our wishes for the planet as well as gifts and good wishes for each other.

Dr. Laura Kehoe, sustainability scientist and founder of the Dear Green Santa campaign, explained in the gathering how she created a Santa's grotto with a difference in Dublin last Christmas, which gave children the opportunity to share their Christmas wishes for the planet and presented letters from the children who joined in to the UN at the 2019 Climate Action Summit.

As a result of our launch gathering Laura connected with a fantastic group of volunteers who have been working with her over the last several weeks to bring the Dear Green Santa campaign online for this Christmas. Laura's incredible group of marketing elves includes Lauren Cooper, JiaJia Smith, Una Beck Johnson, Faiz Kermani, Lisa Basford, Jasmine Lenthall, Mandy Bobrowski and Nick Wake. They have developed an integrated marketing strategy, created a new logo and website, written a schools' pack, are manning the social media channels from now until Christmas, writing and sending out press releases and developing ideas to further grow the campaign next year.

You can now join in by writing your own letters to Green Santa, encouraging others to do the same, sharing the campaign on social media, passing it on to journalists, or engaging with businesses and schools that might like to collaborate on next year's campaign. Your help will make this a powerful new Christmas tradition that will serve us well for generations to come!
